The Foundation For Giving is proud to have sponsored or assisted the following charitable organizations during the 2010 to 2013 timeframe.
Our Local Initiatives
QUICK START: QuickStart - Early Intervention for Autism is a grassroots charity that began in Ottawa in 2008. QuickStart’s mission is to help children receive the earliest intervention possible and to provide support to the family. QuickStart, in partnership with the Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre, has established the unique pre-diagnosis Clinic called Getting Started Services. Parents now have a place to call when they are concerned about their child’s development. Over 800 children have now gone through the Getting Started Services Clinic!. To see the impact the clinic is making for the children and their families, please view their new video highlighting the tremendous difference your support is making! www.quickstartautism.ca QuickStart also operates a respite program, ReFresh ReStart, to give parents a rare opportunity to get away to rest and relax from the daily demands of caring for their child with autism.
HOPEWELL:
Hopewell is dedicated to offering support, information and hope to anyone affected by eating disorders and promoting prevention by helping people understand eating disorders and the importance of healthy attitudes towards body image, eating and physical activity. www.hopewell.ca
CAMBRIDGE STREET COMMUNITY PUBLIC SCHOOL:
The students of this school come from the West Centertown catchment area, which es ethnically & linguistically diversity. The Foundation For Giving has assisted their Borrow-A-Book Project project which seeks to increase the reading achievement of their students.
JERICHO ROAD: Jericho Road is committed to offering homes and assistance to the poor, the addicted, and the mentally ill within Ottawa. Jericho Road is a non-profit, inter-denominational organization that seeks to bring hope and healing to people who live on the streets of Ottawa through life-style evangelism.
OTTAWA ROTARY HOME: :
The Ottawa Rotary Home has been operating since 1982, and provides overnight getaways for children and adults with severe physical disabilities, with the main goal to give parents a break from the 24 hour care that usually comes with caring for a high-needs child. It has been the Home’s dream for many years to offer respite services to their “graduates” after they turn 21. Adult respite services were the main inspiration for the new home project which was realized in 2009. The new home can welcome 13 children and 8 young adults in two separate areas. The Adult Respite Program provides individuals with physical disabilities and their families much needed support and respite. Everyone involved in the organization believes strongly in encouraging respite breaks in order to keep families strong and healthy. RED DAY 2012: Red Day is the day that all Keller Williams offices across North America give back to their communities. Each office chooses a need and pulls together to make a difference. Again this year, two different events were planned. The Lanark County Therapeutic Riding Program was given a helping hand preparing their site at the their new location at Willaway Farm. Another group helped to serve lunch at the Ottawa Mission.
RED DAY 2011: This year, Keller Williams Ottawa had separate events for each branch. The Orleans office hosted a food drive. The Ottawa location was invited to participate in two projects: a) the Lowertown Good Neighbours Community House which needed some painting and yard work done and b) the Vanier Community Gardens; at which volunteers helped build raised garden beds.

Help Lesotho has helped to transform the lives of thousands of vulnerable children, youth and grandmothers in the remote mountain villages and has grown into a culturally sensitive, effective and sustainable not-for-profit international development organization. Their work targets root causes and community priorities, including literacy, youth training, school twinning, child sponsorship and gender programming.

Peg Herbert spoke at our 2012 KWO Foundation for Giving Breakfast. Here is an excerpt from her speech: "You may not know that the KWO, the Cares Committee and now the Foundation for Giving family have donated > $25,000 to Help Lesotho over the years, and in addition to providing office space, are sponsoring three fine young but vulnerable children through high school who would never have the chance for an education. Several of you sponsor children individually - Thank you for that!" You may access her complete speech, which provides a wonderful overview of what the Foundation For Giving and everyone at Keller Williams Ottawa Realty is striving to accomplish, here.
