The Foundation for Giving has grown from the humble beginnings as a vehicle for licensed registrants at Keller Williams Ottawa Realty to donate a portion of their closed real estate trades to various causes and organizations into a registered charitable foundation. 

We are currently funded almost entirely by donations from licensed registrants and Keller Williams Ottawa staff, but, with our ability to supply donors with charitable receipts, we hope to expand our donation base to include general public.  Our goal is to grow the foundation capital reserve for a future key charitable endeavor and to provide significant sustaining funding to local charitable causes while maintaining our ability to have an impact on smaller organizations, or respond to crisis.

The Foundation for Giving committee has been managing the donated funds while supporting a variety of organizations at the local, national and international levels.  With the creation of the Foundation for Giving, their mandate has to comply with the rules and subsequent restrictions imposed by Revenue Canada. The Foundation is managed by a Board of Directors who supplies guidance to the Foundation for Giving committee.  We are committed to continuing our assistance to those organizations making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves.

For 2013, our funding has been broken down into the following categories.  Please forward all funding enquiries, for any category, to the Foundation for Giving using the
contact us page.  If you are an organization applying for funding from the Foundation for Giving, you may also complete our Standardized Request for Information form and submit it for consideration as per the instructions included on the form.

Local Initiatives: 

The foundation supports two to three organizations with substantial funding initiatives over approximately a three year time frame. Various charitable organizations within the Ottawa capital region have or are currently receiving funding.  These organizations typically receive little, if any, government support and have a direct impact on their client base.  This provides significant, sustaining funding in a multi-year commitment.


Agent Initiatives: 

The foundation sponsors Keller Williams Ottawa Realty licensed registrants and staff who directly participate in various fund raising activities with local registered charities.  This allows us to provide smaller amounts to other organization as part of their fund raising events or special projects.  Our agents, brokers and staff give substantial amounts of their time and energy to the local community and the Foundation for Giving is proud to assist them in their endeavors.


International and Disaster Relief: 

As with our local initiatives, the Foundation is most interested in international charities that have a direct impact on the community they serve and are most in need of private funding. 

Our hearts go out to those communities affected by various natural disasters, such as flooding, earthquakes and hurricanes.  In these instances, a donation is usually made to a major international charity which can then funnel the funds into the affected area.
